Meet The Partners: Universitat Oberta de Catalunya

About Universitat Oberta de Catalunya
The purpose of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), the world’s first university with a virtual campus, is to promote access to high-quality, accessible, and inclusive education, adapted to every stage of life, and aimed at helping people transform their lives and their environments. This is made possible thanks to a 100% online, innovative, flexible, and rigorous learning model that places students at the centre.
UOC’s commitment to research and innovation is driven by its more than 50 research groups and the eLearning Innovation Center, which drives educational innovation within the university. Furthermore, as pioneers and leaders in education’s digital transformation, UOC lends its knowledge and experience to education administrations in need of them.
UOC focuses on innovative education, personalized lifelong learning, and research aimed at driving the transformations required to tackle global challenges. This research is articulated through five key missions: lifelong education, ethical and human-centered technology, digital transition and sustainability, culture for a critical society, and digital health and planetary well-being.
What is their role in the DS4Skills project?
The UOC’s research and innovation (R&I) activities are carried out by over 50 research groups, organized into five research units. With a strong focus on the digital domain, the UOC contributes to addressing global challenges through interdisciplinary and mission-driven research, and provides significant support for the DS4Skills objectives. The UOC leads Use Case 7: Students’ Learning Experiences and Skills Dataspace.
The aim of Use Case 7 is to provide insights into students’ experiences and skills, assess innovative learning models, and support the educational community in evaluating training effectiveness and satisfaction. Its objectives focus on developing a data framework that gathers and analyses data on students’ academic experiences, skills, and learning outcomes. By assessing various learning models, this use case helps institutions evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, identify areas for improvement, and enhance student satisfaction, ultimately improving the quality of education. The insights derived from this framework allow for data-driven decision-making that supports the continuous refinement of educational practices and the design of more effective, personalised learning experiences.
