About University of Patras

The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) at the University of Patras (PANEPISTIMIO PATRON) is a research organisation focused on research and development in cutting edge scientific and technological fields. Their work includes research in robotics, automation, virtual reality, simulation, and software development for manufacturing.

What is their role in the DS4Skills project?

University of Patras leads Use Case 8: “Dataspace for Manufacturing Skills”. Their involvement ensures robust technical development and practical applications for the project.

The aim is to bridge the gap between matching training services and the need for new skills targeting the manufacturing domain. Through this use case, advanced analytics will be set up to facilitate matchmaking. This will enable students in academia, as well as professionals already employed or seeking employment in manufacturing, to evaluate their skill level and find suitable activities and services that will enhance their skill level. The skills data space for manufacturing will provide services and data from competence centers and EDIHs/DIHs with an orientation to advanced manufacturing, as well as from online training content providers.

By connecting a network of data providers, digital hubs, and training providers, the use case will enable real-time skills assessment, gap analysis, and personalized training recommendations. This scalable solution demonstrates how data space can be applied across different industries and education sectors.
