How are participants organised? The dataspace [2.1] defined a set of roles that establish responsibilities andfunctions of each participant within the ecosystem. Each role establishes the ecosystem’s governance model[9.0], guaranteeing a safe and trusted data exchange [6.2] as well as a secure access to all resources [4.0] and coordinated operations among all members.

To guarantee effective collaboration within the contracts of the ecosystems, a series of specific roles for participants involved within the data space are defined:

• Data providers: Entities that contribute to the dataspace with original data and define the conditions under whose data can be shared or reused.
• Service providers: Participants that offer services that consume or process data, such as APIs, analytic services or data processing apps.
• Infrastructure providers: Organizations responsible for providing the technical infrastructure needed for the ecosystem’s performance, such as storage, connectivity, computing resources or trusted execution environments (TEE).
• Project Orchestrator: The coordination entity that configures the project members, manages the governance’s configuration and supervises the general performance and the regulatory compliance of the data space ecosystem.
• Data Consumer: Entity responsible for consuming data and services within the ecosystem. This role enables guaranteeing that only authorized actors can access the resources of the ecosystem and facilitates the implementation of trust and security policies
• Identity or Trust Provider: Organization or group of entities in charge of defining, maintaining and supervising the data space regulation, including access policies, regulatory compliance and problem solving among participants.
